Happy New Year!
I hope you all had an amazing holiday season with your friends and family and took some time to unwind. Taking time to yourself over the holidays is so important to starting the New Year off refreshed and recharged. Some of you may have had one of the most memorable Christmases to date! By this I mean that Christmas time is the most popular time of year to get engaged! If that is you - A big CONGRATULATIONS! My advice to you would be to take the time to be in the moment. Take your planning process slow and start to think about the big items that are important to you and your significant other on your wedding day.
Some of the most impactful spends on a wedding that make wedding days memorable:
- Music (Makes the party BUMPIN')
- Mobile Bars (A unique feature that keeps guests coming back)
- Special Grand Entrances (Horse Carriages)
- Fireworks (The WOW factor)
- Fun and Choregraphed First Dances (Makes everyone laugh!)
A few months back I connected with Kelly from Horse Drawn Okanagan through Instagram (Instagram is such a powerful platform!). I had seen her beautiful horses and involvement with the local community and knew I wanted to be a part of promoting her local small business. Horse Drawn Okanagan has been involved with many community partners such as The Falkland Stampede, Davisons Orchards, IPE Parade, Armstrong Pumpkin Harvest Festival and now Okanagan Events Girl.
Being an Event Coordinator and Local Creative I know there is always unique features wedding couples are searching for on their BIG DAY! One of the most popular and noteworthy features I've seen at weddings I've worked is a mobile bar! They attract a lot of attention and truly get the party going. Mobile bars are also cute photo backdrops.
Some of my favourite unique wedding add ons include:
- Mobile Bars
- Photo Booths - Carriage Rides - Poutine Trucks for late night snacks
- Lawn Games
Living in the Okanagan there are many properties around the area that provide open fields, natural elements and stunning valley or lake views. These local properties often have the space to sustain larger wedding features such as carriages and mobile bars. When it comes to choosing a mobile bar the Horse Drawn Okanagan Mobile Bar offers the freedom to choose what type of products you want to serve. Some ideas include Custom or Themed Cocktails, Local Beer, Your Favourite Wine, Candy, Popcorn or Late Night Snack! The possibilities are endless.
This Christmas I had the experience of going on a Sleigh Ride with my closest family (some of which are from Australia). I don't think you can have a Classic Canadian Christmas without a Sleigh Ride?! As we drove up to Ottercrest Farms it was a beautiful open field with fresh snow and a large barn. Inside the barn was a classic Christmas theme with red decorations and a fresh Christmas tree with many awards and descriptions of the horses. As you walked through to the corral area you could find the Horse Drawn Okanagan Mobile Bar, petting zoo, miniature horses, cookies, hot chocolate, photo ops and a cozy campfire.
My experience having a Sleigh Ride with Horse Drawn Okanagan was fantastic. Kelly was so professional and knowledgeable about how to properly approach and walk near a horse. Kelly made it easy and fun to interact with on our Sleigh Ride by offering for us to play music, sing songs and stop to take photos wherever we wanted. We even got the horses to go into a trot as we rode around in the snow on the farm. Kelly did a great job adding little Christmas elements of design around the farm and on the sleigh with a Christmas wreath.
